As a Transport Planner you will form part of our central team supporting across our Distribution network including our cutting-edge Omega Distribution Centre, located at the Omega Business Park just off Junction 8 of the M62, you will be responsible for the efficient deployment and routing of delivery vehicles across the UK. You will manage daily delivery schedules, allocate resources, and ensure the administration of performance metrics to provide first-class customer service. Your role will optimise vehicle and resource utilisation while adhering to health, safety, and regulatory standards.

Working closely with the Network Planning and Optimisation Manager and the wider Transport Team, you will use systems like Paragon and Microlise to review transport capacity and update route plans. You will balance warehouse operational capacity with demand forecasts, ensuring that transport plans meet store requirements and performance KPIs. Additionally, you will continuously monitor subcontractor performance and work to enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the transport schedules.

Job Overview
Daily Resource Planning: Plan and allocate resources to deliver the daily transport schedule using Paragon, adjusting to meet store requirements and forecasts.
Route Optimisation: Maintain and update route plans for store changes, relocations, and new stores, ensuring schedules are cost-effective and efficient.
Transport Performance Management: Monitor KPIs and provide transport performance reporting for the Leadership Team, continuously analysing and improving transport efficiency.
Regulatory Compliance and H&S: Ensure all transport operations comply with health, safety, and transport regulations, regularly reviewing and updating compliance measures.
Subcontractor Management: Monitor subcontractor performance, escalating any performance or non-compliance issues as necessary.
Problem Solving and Feedback: Collaborate with the team to resolve scheduling issues, gather feedback, and recommend improvements to transport schedules.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Warehouse Operations, Building and Maintenance, and WITRON teams to ensure smooth coordination between departments.

Minimum Criteria To Apply
Advanced experience in transport planning, ideally within a fast-paced transport or distribution environment.
Proficiency with transport planning systems such as Paragon and Microlise.
Strong communication skills and experience working cross-functionally with other departments.
Knowledge of health, safety, and transport regulations.
Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively.
Proactive problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
Ability to guide and influence key stakeholders while working as part of a team.
