With a proven track record of creating outstanding omnichannel customer experiences through your team, and at times yourself. From strategic discovery through to delivery and continuous improvement of the customer experience. Identifying and ensuring user-centred design methodologies are used at pace, working as part of Product. You plan, rationale and execute a clearly defined process in order to identify and meet customer and business goals, bringing stakeholders at all levels on the journey with you and your team. Key Responsibilities As Product Design Manager for the Waitrose App/s you will be responsible for leading, managing and nurturing a team of talented Product Designers to inform, shape, drive and design the omnichannel customer experience for your product domain /area of focus. To deliver a market leading customer experience (this can be external customer and/or internal partners) that meets evolving customer needs, drives value to our customers and the business, in line with overarching business strategy, outcomes and key results As a customer-centric, innovative problem solver and thinker you will build a deep understanding of the customer and help shape the vision of how we solve our customers' problems strategically and tactically, inspire and rally all in your Product domain team towards it. Working in close collaboration with the designers in your team, Product management, UX Research, Engineering, other Product Design Managers and wider business teams including Insight and Analytics As a digital product design expert (and previous practitioner) and experienced people manager, you will foster fast and healthy team growth, nurturing a high performing team of Product Designers, so that they thrive and learn iteratively at pace.Through your guidance, direction and mentoring, you’ll work through your team, inspiring and challenging them to think bigger. Always starting with the customer, understanding external influences, providing clarity on the problems we're solving, and guiding the vision for the omnichannel customer experience for your product domain, taking into account the broader customer experience You are accountable for the quality and consistency of the customer experience design for your product domain/area of focus. Working closely with designers to challenge their work. Developing design capabilities and elevating experience design standards across your product domain/area. You are also a guardian and advocate for the design system You will have a deep understanding of all aspects of the Product life cycle and associated product design specialisms, and use this to ensure you have the right skills and experience in your team to identify, inform and design the most simple, relevant and usable customer experience in the most effective way, that is accessible to all our customers. Delivering against business outcomes and identifying stretch opportunities that offer personal and professional development for your team You will be expected to build and maintain strong relationships within your business value stream and related value stream, and other key areas of the business. Playing an active role in the creation of your value streams and product domain/areas proposition roadmap, then leading the planning, coordination, driving and delivery of the associated product design activities to achieve this, throughout discovery and delivery You will contribute to the functional improvement of the Product Design team, broader community of practice, and contribute to the overall improvement of the Product function Essential skills you’ll need Experience recruiting, leading, managing, nurturing and developing a team of Product Designers in an agile omni channel retail environment Deep understanding of all aspects of the Product Design lifecycle including throughout Discovery and Delivery (including strategic discovery); Design and UX Research Strategic thinking, including setting design vision/direction and strategy and delivering to this across digital touchpoints (App and Web) Excellent communicator and storyteller with experience managing complex sets of stakeholders at all levels Experience planning and organising resources across matrixed product teams Desirable skills you’ll have Grocery / food ecommerce experience within a large organisation Service design experience Benefits of the Partnership and the role 💻 - Hybrid Working 🏖️ - Full time working holiday entitlement 25 days holiday, plus public and bank holidays ⚖ - Excellent work life balance, including focus on well being and flexible working and our market leading equal parenthood leave Policy 🌷- Defined Contribution pension scheme where your contributions will be matched by the Partnership (up to 8% of pay) and, after three years’ service, you’ll receive an additional Partnership contribution of 4% of pay, regardless of whether you pay in or not 🤑 - You’ll get Partnership discount in store and online once you complete your Earning Membership.
