At Tesco, we believe in the power of spending more time together, face to face, than apart. So, during your working week, you can expect to spend 60% of your time in one of our office locations or local sites and the rest remotely. We also recognise that life looks a little different for each of us. Some people are at the start of their careers, some want the freedom to do the things they love. Others are going through life-changing moments like becoming a carer, nearing retirement, adapting to parenthood, or something else. That’s why at Tesco, we always welcome a conversation about flexible working. So, talk to us throughout your application about how we can support.

Our Investor Relations team manages the relationship and communications between Tesco and its shareholders and the wider investment community. It is a high-profile team that supports the CEO, CFO and Group Investor Relations Director to communicate the performance of the Tesco Group.

You will be primarily responsible for communicating our ESG objectives and progress, fielding questions from analysts and investors on a broad range of topics, as well as supporting senior management in their interactions with investors. The role will require you to build positive relationships with key colleagues, familiarise yourself with Tesco’s extensive ESG disclosure, and establish relationships with investors and analysts.

You will be responsible for:

Building and nurturing strong, open and trusted relationships with investors and analysts, and with a wide range of senior colleagues
Owning and delivering the proactive investor ESG engagement programme, including targeting and outreach opportunities and ESG engagement events
Presenting on the investor perspective and IR programme to governance forums including the Sustainability Committee (delegated authority from the Board) and ESG Disclosure Group (steering committee of Group Planet Committee)
Responding to questions from and leading discussions with investors and analysts
Supporting colleagues to prepare and deliver specialist investor-facing ESG content and respond to questions in meetings and events
Briefing Executive and Non-Executive Directors ahead of investor ESG meetings
Maintaining an in-depth understanding of external developments, investor sentiment and considerations, and sharing relevant perspectives with colleagues
Shaping and reviewing sustainability reporting and content, to ensure the investor perspective is appropriately addressed
Reviewing papers and content prepared for governance committees, and highlighting any key considerations or concerns to the IR Directors
Staying engaged in all relevant internal newsflow and developments and producing tailored updates for the investor audience

You will need:

Outstanding communication skills (written and spoken)
Significant experience in investor relations with a skew toward ESG topics, preferably in a consumer environment
Strong awareness of various voluntary and mandatory ESG reporting, preferably including CSRD
Project management/organisational skills and strong attention to detail
Experience of collaborating efficiently with both internal colleagues and external partners (often at more senior work levels)
