A new survey has revealed that almost a third of UK consumers plan to do all of their Christmas shopping online this year.
The study by Yodel found this marked more than a fourfold increase from last Christmas when only 7% opted for online-only gift-buying.
The results of the survey have also revealed that 61% of shoppers plan to adopt a hybrid approach to buying gifts this festive season by doing a mix of online and in-store shopping. This approach was found to be particularly popular with young people, with almost 68% of 18 to 24 year olds planning to shop this way compared to just over half of the over 75s.
Other findings include the fact that three quarters of shoppers reported that they would or already have done more of their Christmas shopping online this year, with four in 10 saying they would be starting earlier than usual. In addition, almost a quarter said they would be spending less this Christmas.
