Nike is reportedly set to end its supply agreements with all independent retailers over the next two years, as part of its plans to refocus its efforts on its direct-to-consumer division.
According to The Sunday Times, the brand has notified a number of independent retailers via a letter, that as of 2021, they will no longer be supplying them.
Nike said that the way that independent retailers stock goods no longer aligns with its distribution strategy.
The ending of supply could begin as early as next year, but will be fully completed by 2021.
It already has plans in place to generate 50 percent of its sales via its own stores and ecommerce site, which will not only enable them to have more control over its distribution, but it will also help to boost its profits and margins.
