Lionel Messi has launched a premium fashion label for men, which was displayed last week at Santa Eulalia, a leading multi-brand retailer in Barcelona.
The brand, named 'Messi', will be available on TheMessiStore.com, and will offer a range of t-shirts, sweatshirts, polo shirts and trousers, with new products dropping each week. The collection will also be available at Santa Eulalia’s flagship store and online for a month.
Discussing the brand, Messi said: “I like to explore different areas that are of interest beyond sport. I always try to take advantage of every opportunity to be part of something new and exciting, so the launch of my own fashion brand is something I really wanted to do, and I hope people enjoy it as much as I do,”
His sister, Maria Sol Messi, has been appointed as brand manager, and Ginny Hilfiger, sister of Tommy Hilfiger will act as the brands creative director. She said: “Our goal is to remain true to Leo and push the boundaries of what it means to be a world-renowned football icon and an athlete who serves as inspiration on and off the field, with a cool and classic fashion style. Our designs will be spontaneous and affordable for everybody.”
