H&M is piloting delivery by bicycle in the Netherlands.
The retailer has partnered with Fietskoeriers, which picks the orders up from the H&M warehouse using biogas vehicles, and then delivers them by bicycle from local hubs.
Fietskoeriers covers around 30 cities in the country. The service will enable customers to benefit from next-day delivery.
Pascal Brun, head of sustainability at H&M, said: “We are happy to see an increasing interest for sustainability among our customers and hope they will love this new climate-smart way of getting their fashion finds delivered to their homes. We look forward to evaluating this pilot project and to reveal new exciting projects when it comes to climate-smart transports.”
H&M is working to make its logistics operations as energy efficient as possible, as part of its plans to become climate positive by 2040.
