Club Monaco has appointed Richard Chai as its new creative director and senior vice president.

Chai will manage the design the design of all womenswear, menswear and accessories at the business. He will report directly into chief executive Francis Pierrel.

He will replace Steven Caterton who has been in the role for the last 11 years.

Chai launched his own label in 2004 after graduating from the Parsons School of Design, and has previously been a design director at Marc Jacobs.   He has also worked at Donna Karan and Armani Exchange.

Club Monaco was founded in Toronto in 1985, and was acquired by Ralph Lauren in 1999.
