Asda is to offer Ukrainian refugees arriving in the UK a guaranteed job interview.
The supermarket will also provide specialist support to those who are offered jobs.
Ukrainian nationals applying for a post at the supermarket will simply need to tick a box confirming their nationality on the Asda job site. Meanwhile applicants for positions at Asda’s IPL procurement arm will just have to provide their nationality when they apply.
Interviews will be guaranteed to candidates with appropriate qualifications for the roles advertised, which include warehouse operatives, retail staff, delivery drivers, pharmacists and optometrists.
The supermarket currently has around 1,500 salaried and hourly-paid roles available in its stores, warehouses and within IPL.
The supermarket will also give the Ukrainian recruits a colleague discount card and access to wellbeing support services immediately when they join. It is also producing Ukrainian-language welcome packs and introducing badges for Ukrainian speaking colleagues to wear in-store to help customers from the country feel welcome.
