Is a CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) qualification a necessity for getting into HR?
“The answer to this question is entry level posts (HR Assistant / HR Administrator) would not be expected to have a CIPD qualification as a rule, but they may well be expected to work towards one when in the role. Work experience is considered more highly valuable in entry level HR, particularly if it’s in a relevant area such as retail, public sector or finance.
Competition for jobs in HR is high so be prepared to start at the bottom of the ladder. It’s often necessary to get experience in another office role, such as administration, before you can progress to a position in HR. Sideways moves into the sector are quite common. Only higher level HR roles would require this and maybe other qualifications, as an essential requirement.”
