Fun Facts

During World War One, in 1914 Moss Bros opened its very own military department, supplying uniforms to the military in vast numbers, newly commissioned officers descended on Moss King St for their uniforms. A few years later Moss Bros extended their portfolio & displayed flair & an appetite for innovation by introducing a saddlery department.

In 1924 King George insisted the new Labour Government dressed correctly at court, Moss soon kitted out the party by suggestion of the Kings private secretary. A proud moment for Moss Bros

1939 saw Moss Bros opening 5 new stores in Manchester, Edinburgh, York, Bristol & Portsmouth keeping the naval business in mind. The year 1947 saw Moss Bros becoming a public company with the Moss family maintaining a controlling interest, in the same year Moss Bros opened a women’s department specialising in bridal wear, bridesmaid dresses, evening dresses, gloves, handbags and even mink coats.
